In case you don’t remember, AMD has two Radeon RX 6750 graphics cards with different performance levels available in the Chinese market, and they’re selling well. Oddly enough, the good sales are bad news for AMD, and this is because stores are selling both graphics cards below their recommended price. This helps stores move stock, but it negatively affects sales of other, more powerful and expensive graphics cards. Sales have been impacted to the point that AMD has decided to take action.
While gamers are demanding more affordable graphics cards, AMD will enforce that all of these stores adhere to the recommended selling price. You might think they’re dropping prices, but no, the discounts are small – just enough to boost sales when they weren’t moving at the recommended price.
AMD isn’t happy about Radeon RX 6750 GRE selling well for less
To provide context, the AMD Radeon RX 6750 GRE with 10GB capacity has a recommended price of 2,219 RMB, which translates to €285.85 or $308.64. However, this card is selling for 2,149 RMB (€280 or $299), meaning the price difference is only about €5. It’s quite sad that AMD is going after retailers for such a measly discount.
On the other hand, the AMD Radeon RX 6750 GRE with 12GB has a recommended price of 2,379 RMB (€306 or $331), but it is selling for 2,249 RMB (€290 or $313). In this case, there’s a more noticeable difference of €16.
Despite these tiny discounts, reports say AMD is taking strict measures against stores selling these GPUs below the recommended price. To be specific, if a store is caught, for each GPU sold below the recommended price, the retailer will have to pay a fine of 500 RMB (€64.50 or $69.50).
Beginning with the fourth graphics card sold below the recommended price, a fine of 1,000 RMB (€129 or $139) will be charged. Additionally, the retailer will no longer receive Radeon RX 6750 GRE graphics cards. This is the first time we’ve seen AMD adopt a policy like this.
Quick reminder of what these graphics cards offer
The AMD Radeon RX 6750 GRE 10GB utilizes a graphics chip with 2,304 Stream Processors at a Turbo frequency of 2,450 MHz. As its name suggests, it has 10GB of GDDR6 memory at 16 Gbps with a 160-bit memory interface. This translates to a bandwidth of 320 GB/s, along with 80MB of Infinity Cache and a TBP of 170W. In terms of performance, it reaches 11.29 TFLOPs. This card is about 2% slower than the Radeon RX 6650 XT and 3% faster than an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.
The AMD Radeon RX 6750 GRE 12GB offers a total of 2,560 Stream Processors at a Turbo frequency of 2,581 MHz, accompanied by 12GB of GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps with a 192-bit memory interface. This faster interface and memory help it achieve a bandwidth of 432 GB/s, complemented by 96MB of Infinity Cache and a TBP of 230W. Its performance is 13.21 TFLOPs and is on par with the Radeon RX 6700 XT. The Radeon RX 6750 XT is 6% faster.
