Frontier Developments has announced the upcoming release of F1 Manager 2024, set to launch this summer. Unlike Codemaster’s forthcoming F1 24 game, this will be a simulator focused on managing a Formula 1 team. Based on the current F1 season, the game features 24 racetracks, access to all vehicles, team managers, and the F1 Sprint race format. Players can start their careers with one of the 10 official F1 teams.
A significant new addition to this installment is the ability, for the first time, to create your own racing team, complete with customized drivers to take your cars to the podium. Additionally, there will be a new mentality system for drivers and staff, which Frontier claims will bring individual personalities and demands to the forefront as players navigate team motivations.
F1 Manager 2024 is said to be more realistic and challenging due to its “smarter” AI. Developers emphasize that players will need to juggle individual personalities, car designs, talent, and sponsorship opportunities. The improved in-game AI will present a challenge both on and off the track, with players having to manage their team and drivers while also facing an “underlying threat of driver and staff theft,” which will maintain competitiveness.
Frontier Developments also boasts of “enhanced race behaviors” and “new strategic perspectives” that players can utilize during races for decision-making. These improvements come after the studio candidly admitted that F1 Manager 2023 did not meet sales expectations, leading to announced layoffs in October 2023. With these enhancements, better projections are anticipated.
F1 Manager 2024 is set to release sometime in summer across all platforms, except for the Nintendo Switch. This includes PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The recommended retail price is €34.99, with potential digital-only sales at this time.
In summary, F1 Manager 2024 allows players to lead their teams to glory, starting a new F1 season with 24 races, new cars, team managers, and an updated sprint format. For the first time, players can create their own teams, customize car setups and colors, logos, and race uniforms, recruit personnel and drivers, and negotiate with sponsors for appearances on their cars. Deeper management and a detailed mentality system bring a new level of realism and challenge to the game.
