Get the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Now at Prices Lower than the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price

Although the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER was launched yesterday, in less than 24 hours, these graphics cards are already being sold below their recommended price. This has never happened with NVIDIA before and marks a new market trend.

According to early rumors, the sales of these GPUs have been disastrous. Initial data from Mindfactory reveals that on the first day, around 240 units were sold. These are excellent figures considering that the RTX 4060 debuted with 10 units sold, or the 15 to 30 units sold by the 8 and 16 GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti models. However, these numbers are lower than the 315 units of the original RTX 4070 and almost half as many as the RTX 4070 Ti. The two RTX 40 Series models were the most popular on their launch day at the German store.

The RTX 4070 SUPER can be found at a 5% discount from its recommended price

Across various European stores, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER can already be purchased at a price between 3% and 5% below its recommended price. For instance, in Austria, instead of paying €649 for this GPU, you will pay €629. Poland offers the biggest discount, although the GPU was launched there at a higher price. Initially priced at €682, it now costs €648.

In Spain, the official price is €669, but models can already be found for €659. Specifically, a custom model from Zotac has this lower price to try to capture all sales from someone who wants this GPU. Moreover, in the store where we saw it listed, it is the only GPU with a notice indicating that it has received “more than 500 visits in 24 hours”. This shows that the strategy of offering a slightly lower price really works.

All GPU models deliver virtually the same performance, and temperatures are very similar. Thus, a cheaper product will attract the majority of sales, especially when there are RTX 4070 models priced at €710, €750, €800, and even €900. It makes no sense to pay these prices when a model for €659, or the Founders Edition for €669, will work just as well.

The main criticism of this GPU is its scarce 12 GB of VRAM

The widespread criticism of the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER lies in its 12 GB of VRAM memory. This will limit performance in specific cases, such as games that offer enhanced visuals with high-definition textures. Yes, you can reduce the quality to avoid hitting the 12 GB VRAM ceiling, but it seems unreasonable to decrease graphics settings with a GPU that costs nearly €700. This model with 16 GB of VRAM would be much more attractive. However, then there would be no future RTX 4070 Ti SUPER. The problem may also be that the RTX 4070 SUPER remains a mid-range GPU, but at a high-end price.

Otherwise, it surpasses the Radeon RX 7800 XT without any issues and offers performance similar to the GeForce RTX 3090 while consuming less power. However, at 4K, the RTX 3090 is up to 8% faster thanks to its memory configuration with greater bandwidth. It also has improved Ray Tracing performance and DLSS 3 with Frame Generation.
