Las gafas de Apple también sirven para trabajar: los cirujanos operan por primera vez con las Vision Pro

When the first VR glasses for PCs were introduced, their main use was for playing video games more immersively. They could be used for programs, internet browsing, or watching movies, but ultimately, they felt like a peripheral designed for gaming. With augmented and mixed reality glasses, the focus has changed, and they are now being used in various industries. In fact, the recent Apple Vision Pro has already proven to be useful for nurses and surgeons who used these glasses for assistance and support.

The Vision Pro glasses were launched just over a month ago with high expectations and a very high price, making them a niche market peripheral. Despite initial doubts about their sales potential, around 200,000 Vision Pros were pre-ordered, surpassing analyst estimates. As the glasses began to reach customers, an abundance of content was created around them, including reviews, tests, videos and memes showcasing people using them inside Teslas, on subways, or at the gym.

A UK nurse has used the Vision Pro glasses to aid surgeons in an operation

It seemed that people couldn’t get enough of the Vision Pro, but after a few weeks, the “hype” began to deflate, and it became apparent that the glasses were not an essential peripheral in their lives. Over time, the use of the glasses will likely decrease, depending on people’s interest in using them for movies and multimedia content. While this was the primary focus of Apple, they also promoted the glasses as a work device.

The Vision Pro glasses were first used in an operating room three days after their launch in a spinal reconstruction surgery. According to Dr. Robert Masson, we are entering a new era of surgery with the Vision Pro glasses providing assistance and support. Fast-forwarding to recent events, the UK’s first surgery using the device saw a nurse using the Vision Pro glasses to help prepare and deliver the correct tools. The Vision Pro glasses utilized software created by the American company eXeX.

Apple’s glasses are useful for preventing human errors and providing assistance

The software company has created similar programs for Microsoft’s HoloLens glasses, so they already have previous experience in the sector. This allows holographic access to all surgical devices and offers a virtual step-by-step procedure guide, enabling seamless operation without mistakes. Furthermore, post-operation, results can be compared with those of other surgeons.

According to Suvi Verho, a nurse at London Independent Hospital, the Apple Vision Pro glasses paired with this software eliminate human error and uncertainty, allowing doctors and surgeons to gain more confidence and improve the potential for successful surgeries. The application of the Vision Pro glasses is not limited to this, as they are also being used for early disease detection, patient monitoring, and radiology.
