Seasonic has launched its own secure cables for powering NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards, featuring modern 12V-2×6 connectors with the H++ build. The cable is available in three different versions. There are two 16-pin connectors at a 90º angle on one side, and two 8+8-pin PCIe connectors for older power supplies, or another 12V-2×6 connector for a modern power supply. Additionally, there is a third cable with a double 12V-2×6 connector without any angle. All of them also have the same length of 700mm.
These cables are capable of supporting up to 600W of power, meaning they can be used to power any high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card. The company also boasts of the quality of the materials, and these cables have a lifespan of 50 coupling cycles, meaning they can be connected and disconnected from the GPU up to 50 times. According to the company, this is a normal standard for this type of connector.
The Seasonic 12V-2×6 (H++) cable is currently the most modern available. It can actually supply up to 675W of power to the GPU, as the cable provides 600W and the PCI-Express slot on the motherboard can supply an additional 75W. However, with the H+ or 12VHPWR connector, these 600W were supplied through 525W by the cable and 75W by the motherboard.
With the arrival of the new ATX 3.1 / PCIe 5 specifications, some graphics cards will be powered by the new 12V-2×6 connector. With a power of up to 600W, the native Seasonic 12V-2×6 cable has been made with high-quality materials, such as connectors with high-current terminals and 16 AWG cables, to ensure maximum performance and safety of use.
The native Seasonic 12V-2×6 power supply cable has a rated power of 600W. This means that the maximum power the VGA can draw from the power supply can be up to 600W. If your VGA consumes a lot of power, consider power supplies with a rated power of 750W or higher.
Compatibility and bending issues:
The company indicates that this connector is compatible with their Seasonic PRIME TX and PX, VERTEX GX, PX, and GX series, as well as FOCUS GX power supplies. However, this connector has the same problem seen in other connectors: be careful when bending it. If you have to bend it for connection with the GPU, it is recommended that the curve be at least 35mm away from the connector itself.
They also warn you to connect the connector properly. Unlike the original 16-pin connector, even if it is incorrectly connected, there is no risk of damaging the connector or the GPU. Seasonic did not indicate the price of these 12V-2×6 (H++) cables, as those with a Seasonic power supply with the classic 12VHPWR connector may be interested in replacing it.
Other measures to take into account are:
BOTH 12V-2×6 connectors must be plugged into your power supply at all times.
All connectors must be INSERTED, LOCKED, and SEATED correctly.
DO NOT bend or apply force to the cable too close to the connector.
DO NOT bend the cable in any direction once plugged in.
