Xiaomi 14 Ultra: así es el nuevo smartphone tope de gama de la marca

Xiaomi has announced in China the launch of its new high-end smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This device is expected to be officially unveiled for the rest of the markets on February 25th during the Mobile World Congress. Like the iPhone and Galaxy, the design appears to be largely unchanged from its predecessor. The visual appearance is almost identical, but there are internal differences.

These differences are related to the materials used. The black and white models feature a synthetic leather finish on the back, making them weigh 224.4 grams, 3 grams lighter than their predecessor. The blue model has a glass finish, increasing its weight to 229.5 grams. Lastly, the premium version uses grade 5 titanium, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro and superior to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This version weighs 229.6 grams.

Here are the Xiaomi 14 Ultra specifications:

In terms of hardware, there are few innovations. Not only because these specifications have been seen on other devices but also because they had been leaked in the past. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra uses a 6.73-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This panel can reach a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, supports HDR10+, and houses a fingerprint sensor as its primary security feature.

It’s no surprise that the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, accompanied by 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It is powered by a generous 5,300 mAh battery with 90W fast charging technology and an incredibly fast 80W wireless charging. This hardware is cooled by a large vapor chamber, three times larger than the one found in its predecessor.

In terms of connectivity, there are no surprises either. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C, and dual-SIM support. All versions have a 9.2 mm thick chassis and offer water and dust resistance (IP68). On the software side, there’s Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14. The special titanium model offers satellite calling as a bonus feature.

Camera and pricing in China:

The most important aspect of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is its photographic capabilities. It comes with four 50-megapixel cameras: a main sensor, an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 3.2x optical zoom telephoto lens, and a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This results in 8K video recording at 30 FPS or 4K recording at 120 FPS. In terms of light capture comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra promises 196% more light compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max and 474% more compared to the iPhone 15 Pro (non-Max). This translates to better image quality in low-light conditions.

As for the price, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra starts at around €830 (12GB/256GB) and goes up to €1,000 (16GB/1TB). The special titanium edition costs €1,130. For reference, the 16GB/512GB model is expected to be priced at €1,499 in Europe, making it significantly more expensive in these markets.
