Alongside the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the company announced its first Redmi laptops with Intel Core Ultra processors, the Redmi Book Pro 2024. These laptops come in both 16- and 14-inch variants. As expected, Xiaomi has opted for Intel’s latest processors, the Meteor Lake.
These laptops utilize the integrated Intel Arc graphics and also take advantage of the built-in Intel NPU. That is why the company boasts about laptops designed for tasks related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Interestingly, although they come with Windows 11, they are said to feature “HyperOS functions.”
Specifications for the Redmi Book Pro 14 2024 and Redmi Book Pro 16 2024
The Redmi Book Pro 14 2024 features a 14-inch IPS panel with a 2,880 x 1,800-pixel resolution (16:10) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This panel can reach a maximum brightness of 500 nits and covers 100% of the sRGB color space. It uses an aluminum and magnesium chassis with a thickness of 15.9 mm, and weighs 1.46 kilograms. This model has an 80 Wh battery capacity and is charged using a 100W GaN USB-C charger.
The larger Redmi Book Pro 16 2024 has a 16-inch display with a resolution of 3,072 x 1,920 pixels at 165 Hz. The rest of the panel specifications remain the same. Its battery capacity increases to 99 Wh, with a 140W charger. Although it has the same thickness, 15.9 mm, this model weighs 1.88 kilograms.
Both portable devices can be chosen with an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor (4x P-Core + 8x E-Core + 2x LP-E Core) or an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor (6x P-Core + 8x E-Core + 2x LP-E Core). The most affordable model can be chosen with 16 or 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 7,467 MHz, alongside a 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. The Core i7 variant is only available with 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
As for the NPU, it is used for noise reduction, transcription, centering you on the 1080p webcam, and other currently less relevant tasks. It will gain more prominence when Microsoft updates Windows 11 with integrated AI capabilities.
Other information, availability, and price
The Redmi Book Pro 2024 laptops also boast decent connectivity. They feature 1x USB-C port, 1x Thunderbolt 4 port, 2x UBS 3.2 Gen1 ports, a headphone jack, and an HDMI 2.1 video output. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 (ax) with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.3.
Regarding cooling, it is quite simple. There are two copper heat pipes connected to two aluminum turbine fans, more than sufficient for handling these Intel Core Ultra CPUs.
As for prices, the Redmi Book Pro 14 2024 has been released in China with a starting price of around €650. The Redmi Book Pro 16 2024 starts at around €780. These prices are for the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
