GIGABYTE has seen the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECC) list a couple of Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics cards. The most interesting part is that the model is listed, confirming that the Radeon RX 7600 XT will come with 16 GB of VRAM memory. This is good news considering that the leading GPU manufacturer, NVIDIA, has been known to significantly reduce the amount of memory in their GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards.
The company has not been too extravagant, as they plan to release a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 XT Gaming (GV-R76XTGAMING-16GD) model. This will be accompanied by an OC variant that would come with a slight increase in factory frequencies. What can we expect from these Radeon RX 7600 XTs? Let’s find out.
For now, the Radeon RX 7600 XT only confirms its 16 GB of VRAM
The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT is known to have 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM memory. However, it is unknown whether it will maintain the same 128-bit interface as its smaller sibling or upgrade to the 256-bit interface found in the Radeon RX 7800 XT.
The most critical aspect to discover is the number of cores the graphics chip will have. There are only two possibilities – it could stay the same or increase, with the hope that it will indeed increase to compete with the Radeon RX 4060 Ti. If the number of cores increases but still has a 128-bit memory interface, we will face the same bandwidth bottlenecks seen in the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. This significantly limits GPU performance at resolutions beyond 1080p. While last year’s GPUs boasted 4K capabilities, this year it seems the focus has shifted to 1440p.
As context, the Radeon RX 7600 has 2,048 Stream Processors, compared to the 3,456 Stream Processors of the Radeon RX 7700 XT. Ideally, the Radeon RX 7600 XT would offer an intermediate number of cores alongside a 256-bit interface. Yes, that’s a lot to ask for, but hopefully, AMD will do well in the mid-range market.
This GPU is expected to cost around $300
Reports suggest that the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT will arrive at the end of January with a price of around $300. Its official announcement will come in just a week, during CES in Las Vegas. This GPU will also launch in the same window as the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER. They won’t compete in performance, but AMD will look to steal some of NVIDIA’s thunder.
This price is quite good to be true, especially considering the Radeon RX 6600 XT was released in July 2021 with an official price of $379 and 8 GB of VRAM. For reference, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB has an official price of $399, while its 16 GB variant goes up to $499. In American stores, these prices hold true, although the 16 GB variant can sometimes be found on sale for $480. If AMD does its job well, NVIDIA could have serious issues in the mid-range market. The question now is whether they will succeed.
