GSC Game World announced a new release date for the highly anticipated shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, which will finally arrive on September 5th. The game’s delay makes sense, considering that in early 2022, its development was halted due to the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine.
Although there is no way to make another delay sound less grim, we have decided to be transparent about our reasons for postponing the game in favor of another round of polishing.
The definitive release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now September 5, 2024.
This is what the studio has to say about the new release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
In summary, the logical reason for any delay: technically, the game needs more development time. Knowing that in 2023 there were major failures in the industry, which even caused the closure of several studios. In this way, the new release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 can even be seen as good news. It is also worth noting that the game will not have any DRM.
Throughout the frankly challenging development process, we realized that time was the essence for the team. Considering the extent of polishing and understanding that we cannot push your patience too far, we were fully committed to releasing the game in the first quarter of 2024 and working extra hard to meet the launch window.
However, that does not change the fact that, earlier this year, we still witnessed a certain number of technical imperfections that keep S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are awaiting.
If nothing has changed since then, here are the requirements your PC should meet:
Starting with a quad-core processor like the Intel Core i5-7600K or a six-core CPU like the AMD Ryzen 5 1600X. This CPU should be accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and a GPU of the level of the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. In terms of storage, an SSD with at least 150 GB of available space is required.
OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit version
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i5-7600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Storage: 150 GB available space
Additional notes: SSD
The recommended requirements start with at least an eight-core CPU like the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-9700K. They continue with 16 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2070 SUPER. These requirements are quite high considering the market trend and the game’s visual aspect. However, since the game’s announcement, despite delays, these requirements have remained unchanged, even on the day the final release date was announced.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-9700K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
