For RGB lighting enthusiasts, today we have the review of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5, eye-catching and colorful DDR5 memory modules. Designed for high-end systems using DDR5 format, these modules follow the design lines of previous generations from the brand. However, they now come with no less than 16 addressable RGB LEDs to achieve the best color effects.
Before starting the review, we want to thank Thermaltake for trusting us and providing the product for analysis.

Packaging and Accessories
We start the review of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 with its packaging, a black and gray cardboard box that shows the memory modules’ design on the front image, as well as the main features on both sides.
Inside, we find a plastic blister that perfectly protects the memory modules, ensuring they arrive in pristine condition. It also comes with blue seals for the chromed area.
Design and Performance of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5
We continue the review of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 with the pair of modules fully liberated from their protection. In front of us, we have a pack of two DDR5 DIMM memory modules compatible with modern motherboards.
The heat spreader that covers them offers a very unique design, combining different textures. On one side, it has a gray rhomboidal pattern and, on the other, a rough black finish that contrasts with the middle, which is a chromed area.
Furthermore, the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 features ARGB LED lighting spread across the two top strips and the side area. We can independently configure their 16 addressable RGB LEDs, providing excellent lighting effects. These can be configured using the software of any modern motherboard and Thermaltake’s own software.
An important aspect is always the heat spreader’s height. In this case, it is 48 mm, making it compatible with most coolers, although those with more restrictive specifications might have problems unless they can raise the fan that usually covers the memory.
Another equally important aspect is the memory profiles. The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 comes with an XMP 3.0 profile and an AMD EXPO profile that makes it compatible with any modern motherboard. This combination is ideal for hassle-free configuration, as a couple of clicks will have them ready on any modern DDR5 memory platform. It is also worth noting that the modules are equipped with 2 GB Hynix-M die memory chips, the best in their class.
Test Setup
To analyze the performance of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5, we have assembled the following test setup:

Testing the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5
As a first step in testing the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5, we verified the correct configuration of the XMP 3.0 profile on the memory modules using CPU-Z software. As we can see in the images, they are configured at 5600 MHz with 36-36-36-76 latencies and a voltage of 1.25V.
Next, we analyze their performance by comparing them to other memory modules previously tested on the same platform.
Conclusion
After completing the review of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5, it’s time to draw conclusions about what they offer.
First and foremost, we should highlight their full compatibility with new Intel and AMD platforms and even some older ones. They can be used with 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel processors as well as AMD AM5 processors. We should also highlight their unique aesthetics and ARGB LED lighting with 16 addressable LEDs. If you’re looking for color, you won’t be disappointed.
The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 will soon be available in Spain, with the price still to be confirmed. However, considering that this kit should be around €180, it can be said that they are not going to be the cheapest option, even before the expected RAM price increase for this year.
Main advantages:
+ Unique and striking design
+ RGB lighting with 16 LEDs
+ Available in speeds up to 8000 MHz
+ Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles
Negative aspects:
