Grand Theft Auto VI is likely the most anticipated game in the world right now. Considering GTA 5 secured its position as the second best-selling game of all time, this leaves GTA 6 with massive expectations. Everything remained completely silent, and Rockstar did not intend to reveal anything about the game until recently. However, an 18-year-old hacker leaked GTA 6 gameplay last year, and after being captured, he has been sentenced to life in a hospital for the rest of his life.
Rockstar Games are the creators of the incredibly famous Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, as well as Red Dead Redemption, Midnight Club, Max Payne 3, and Manhunt. Nevertheless, all these games pale in comparison to sales when compared to GTA, specifically GTA 5, which broke all records. It is positioned right below Minecraft as the best-selling game in history and still has a large player base on Steam to this day.
The hacker arrested for publishing GTA 6 gameplay has been sentenced to lifetime hospitalization.
Although GTA 5 was released in 2013, Rockstar did not give any official information about GTA 6, and as always, we depended on leaks. Nobody expected anything to be revealed if Rockstar hid everything, but surprisingly, several GTA 6 gameplay videos were leaked at the end of 2022. Initially labeled as fake, the company quickly intervened and removed all the videos, announcing they were indeed real. Shortly afterward, the culprit was discovered to be an 18-year-old Lapsus$ hacker named Arion Kurtaj, who had managed to obtain something no one else could before.
Despite being a teenager, Arion had a history of cyberattacks on Uber, NVIDIA, and Rockstar. When he was captured and put on trial a few months ago, they determined he was not mentally capable and deemed him unfit for trial. However, a final decision has been made on the teenager, who has now been sentenced to life in a hospital.
Arion displays violent behavior, is autistic, and claims he will return to cybercrime when able.
The decision to keep Arion in a hospital indefinitely is due to two factors. Firstly, it has been determined that the hacker who leaked the GTA 6 gameplay suffers from autism, which is why he was not considered mentally capable during the previous trial. On the other hand, the 18-year-old hacker claims he intends to commit cybercrimes again. Additionally, it has been reported that during his custody, Arion displayed violent behavior, causing injuries and property damage.
Thus, it has been ruled that the hacker who leaked GTA 6 will have to remain in a hospital prison for the rest of his life. His only salvation is if doctors determine he is no longer a danger. In the meantime, another 17-year-old hacker who was arrested has been sentenced to 18 months. This sentence is called a Youth Rehabilitation Order, and during that time, he will be prohibited from using virtual private networks, among other limitations.
